Years ago when Moutique was tour managing Stars, lead singer Torquil Campbell used to play us the new material he was working on with his friend Chris Dumont. Memphis’ songs are as opulent as Stars’ and Torquil’s voice can easily aide any bout of tour insomnia. His delivery is as smooth and soothing as the strings and horns that carry it, as dreamy as the lyrical subject matter – words that every person wishes were written specially for them. It is difficult to avoid a love affair with Memphis but why would you want to?
