Upon hearing Chains of Love, it is easy to list the Vancouver quintet’s influences. Rather than insist they’re doing something novel, they assert that mimicry is the goal. Felix Fung (guitar) and Nathalia Pizarro (vocals) intended to start a girl group and they succeeded. Chains of Love fully embrace Wall of Sound reverb and classic Ronettes harmonies. Their modern diction complements the lo-fi, adding edge to an ethereal sonic palate. And it is, ultimately, their open reverence that makes Chains of Love authentic.
